THREE orphaned badger cubs are on the road to recovery after being rescued.
Louise Hartshorn spotted one of the cubs from the roadside near her home in Wormingford.
After an internet search, she tracked down badger expert, Adrian Hinchliffe, who by coincidence works for the same company as her, Anglian Water, and at the same office, in Stanway.
Mr Hinchliffe helps run the North East Essex Badger Group.
Ms Hartshorn, who works as a drinking water sampler, said: “I couldn’t have really asked for a better colleague to talk to.”
Together, they returned to the spot near Wormingford where Louise had found the cub.
They found two more starving cubs and Adrian believes their mother may have been a female badger found dead in the same area ten days earlier.
He said: “I took all three cubs to Judy Massie from the badger group, who stayed up all night, feeding them every hour.
“The next day they had picked up a bit, so that afternoon I took them to the rescue centre.”
The siblings are now thriving at the Wildlife Aid animal sanctuary in Surrey, made famous by TV programme, Wildlife SOS.
