It's all go in the King household at the moment as I continue juggling family life with work and my quest for a place at London 2012.
It’s a bit stressful, trying to keep different balls up in the air, but in the main things are positive and I feel confident I’ve got the balance right.
Training, in particular, has been going well and myself and my twin brother, Dominic, have now fixed up a training trip to Spain.
It’s something we’ve been mulling over a while and now the tickets have been booked.
We’ll be heading off straight after Christmas, on January 2.
It should be very beneficial and it’ll be nice to get some miles under our belts at a time when that might be tricky here, due to the winter weather.
We’ll spend ten days there and walk as many miles as we can, while at the same time grabbing the opportunity for a bit of relaxation and recuperation.
It’s all part of our plan to take a bit more ownership of our training and all about weighing up the pros and cons.
It’s the first time we’ve done something like that for six years and we’re convinced it will help our chances of qualifying for the Olympics.
The trick will be to go out there feeling fit and then get fitter, rather than falling into the trap of thinking we’ve got that trip to get fit in the first place.
We feel in good shape and recently took part in the Enfield Open - a historic competition now in its 85th year.
Dom won it and I was second, so we were clear winners.
We did 12km in the morning and then another 12km in the afternoon, so it was an excellent day’s work.
It was nice to support the race and, from our point of view, get some miles under our belts in proper judged conditions.
It’s one thing to train independently but quite another to compete in a proper race. Hopefully the experience will stand us in good stead.
