BLACK smoke billowing over the Tollgate retail park was coming from an under control bonfire, the fire service has confirmed.
Several calls were received from concerned shoppers and residents so two fire crews from Colchester were sent to the scene just after 9am today.
When they reached the retail park they found a nearby bonfire which was under control and no action was needed.
