TWO Olympic gold-medallist’s memorabilia will be on show at Brightlingsea Sailing Club in September.
Brightlingsea’s catamaran sailing legend Reg White will be the main focus of an Olympic yachting heritage exhibition that will last three weeks in mid-September.
Also on display will be Scotland’s Rodney Pattisson’s Flying Dutchman sailing boat that earned him two gold medals.
Reg White, who won Olympic gold in 1976 and passed away in 2010, was one of Brightlingsea’s most iconic sportsmen.
All funds raised at the exhibition will be donated to the Reg White Commemorative Fund, set up to support young, up-and-coming sailors in the local area. The event will be free and open to the public but a donation is suggested at the door.
Reg’s son David, 50, said: “The family think it is really good to see the Olympic stuff come home, and what has happened in the town for my father is amazing.
“The sailing club has an amazing heritage way beyond my dad as well, right down to the youth stuff.
“It is great the Reg White Commemorative Fund will be supported by this."
