NEWLYWEDS returned from a family break to find burglars had targeted their home.

Jacqueline and William McClaughlin discovered £1,000 of electrical goods had been stolen while they had been celebrating their wedding with a family break.

Pregnant Jacqueline, whose ceremony was filmed for Sky Living’s Four Weddings series, is so upset at the break-in, she wants to move out of Earls Colne and back to Witham.

Mrs McClaughlin, 24, said: “It makes me feel sick that this happened while we were away.

“The holiday was fantastic. We got to spend time with our close family and just have a break with the kids and spoil them a bit.

“It was absolutely horrible to come back to, but the police officer kept saying we were lucky because they hadn’t been upstairs.

“They didn’t trash anything, they just went straight for the lounge – it was basically a smash and grab.

“I have never had anything like this happen before.

“I just feel like my home should feel safe. My husband is going to look around for a different house.”

The family had been for a break in Clacton to celebrate their wedding while they waited to hear if they had won a luxury honeymoon in the Sky TV show. The programme sees four brides compete for the holiday.

They will discover if they have won before the show is aired in August.

Mrs McClaughlin opened the door when she arrived home on Sunday and noticed all the post had been pushed to the side.

When she walked into the lounge, she saw the TV and games console had been taken.

Her two children had to wait in the car while forensic teams worked in the house for two hours.

Mrs McClaughlin said: “We live in small town where everyone knows everyone.

“I am really amazed in this small, nosy town no one has seen anything.”

Police have asked anyone with information about the burglary, which happened between March 30 and April 8, to call them 101.
