A JIGSAW commemorating life in Wivenhoe during the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee year is nearing completion.
Volunteers have been working on designs for their piece, which are ready to be transferred on to 11 large wooden pieces.
Funding for the project came from local groups, including the Wivenhoe Society and Wivenhoe Business Association.
Organiser Marika Footring said: “This project began in November and will make a nice memento of the occasion for everyone involved.
“It has been a real neighbourhood effort, and for one group, in particular, it has been quite a community exercise.
“I hope it will bring groups together and allow people to learn about the town they live in.’’ The jigsaw will be assembled on the King George V Playing Field, as part of Wivenhoe’s jubilee celebrations, on June 4 at 1pm.
It will be mounted on the wall of the Co-op store, in The Avenue, after the event.
Marika added: “We are delighted the Co-op will mount the jigsaw for everyone to see. I hope it will last a long time, as it has been varnished to withstand the weather.”
