A FAMILY heirloom that was wrongly auctioned off is being sought by its former owner.
Gayner Porter, 53, took a box of her late father’s belongings to Colchester’s Reeman Dansie auction house last October.
After a change of heart she tried to get the belongings back but found that a saucer, beloning to a cup and saucer set commemorating George VI’s 1937 coronation had been sold.
Now the heartbroken daughter, of Bramble Way, Levenheath, is appealing for its safe return to reunite the set.
She said: “I don’t want money. I regret ever taking it to auction. I want to pass it down to my son.”
The saucer is off-white, features a picture of the king and queen and has a distinctive wheat pattern either side.
If you have any information of its whereabouts you can email porter.g@btinternet.com
