A FORMER cabinet minister visited Colchester to give Labour’s election campaign a morale boost.
Hazel Blears, MP for Salford and former Communities and |Local Government Minister, visited the town in the run-up to the election on May 3.
She met residents in Greenstead and went door-knocking in Berechurch before addressing Labour party members in Shrub End.
Mrs Blears said: “This area is one that traditionally didn’t get the very best and now it’s getting all these new facilities, providing a rich education for children, which is the most important thing of all.”
Jordan Newell (Lab) is standing for the Harbour ward in the local elections on May 3. Also standing are Anthony Baines (Con), Mark Cole (UKIP), Julia Havis (Lib Dem) and Clare Palmer (Green).
