A SINGER who narrowly missed out on a place on hit BBC talent show the Voice is recording a charity single with fellow rejects.

Daniel Bowyer, 17, of Titania Close, Colchester, made it through several auditions, but didn’t get the call to sing in front of celebrity judges Tom Jones, Will-i-am, Jessie J and Danny O’Donoghue.

But Daniel’s dream of forging a music career is not over. He has linked up with 30 other singers who failed to make the final stages of the Voice.

Vocal coach Paul Davies has put together the group, called Full Circle, and will produce a single in aid of charity Me and Dee.

Daniel said: “Up until the age of 15 I never knew I could sing. I did shows at school, but never went for a lead part.

“In my final year, my music teacher said I should go for the part of Joseph and I got it.

“My family had never heard me before, even rehearsing, which I did when everyone was out. I just didn’t know I was any good.”

Daniel auditioned for the X Factor and Britain’s Got Talent, but failed to make the cut, before applying for the Voice.

He said: “The Voice was quite a bit different, as you don’t have to have the face.

“For the the other shows, I never got past the first round. But after two rounds of the Voice, and some good feedback from the vocal coaches, you realise you could be good enough.

“We were all a little upset we didn’t make the final cut, and Paul’s idea made something positive out of a bad situation.

“Hopefully if we cause some interest we could maybe look at doing another project in the future.”

Later this month they will meet at Manchester’s Blueprint studios to record their version of I Believe from the film, Honey.
