Job Title: Trainee Reporter

The Role:
A trainee reporter is required for the Maldon & Burnham Standard, based in the Braintree office.
Applicants must have undergone NCTJ pre-entry training or the equivalent. Students who have completed a course but are still awaiting results can apply.
Our trainees normally complete the NCE examination within two years of joining a newspaper, to gain senior reporter status. They benefit from Newsquest's internal training scheme, which regularly achieves good results.
The Maldon and Burnham Standard is part of Newsquest Essex, which publishes two daily papers, paid-for and free weekly papers, and associated websites.
The Person
The successful applicant will have a keen, inquiring mind with an interest in people and local issues. Enthusiasm for on-line journalism would be an advantage.
Good organisational and communication skills will be a necessity for this role, as will the ability to work confidently under pressure. A flexible attitude is needed since the position will involve working weekends on a rota basis and some evenings when required.
