A CAMPAIGNING head teacher has spoken of his disappointment after a top level meeting with a Government minister ended in failure.
Gary Smith has appealed to millionaires, philanthropists and politicians, including the Prime Minister, for money to rebuild Market Field School.
The Elmstead Market School, which cares for children with special learning needs, is vastly oversubscribed.
It has 183 students - even though it was originally built to take 70.
It means the school playground, dubbed Shed City, is cluttered with demountable classrooms - some of which leak.
Sixty two per cent of the teaching is carried out in temporary classrooms.
Mr Smith met with Sarah Teather, the Government Minister for children and families, in a bid to secure funding for a new school building.
The meeting in London was also attended by Harwich and North Essex MP Bernard Jenkin and Clacton MP Douglas Carswell who have supported the school’s bid.
