A MESSAGE in a bottle floated all the way from Holland.
Crew on board the ship, Galatea, found the bottle in Harwich.
They could not read the message, as it was in Dutch – so showed it to Robert van Duin, engineer superintendent at Trinity House, the lighthouse authority, who is Dutch.
The message turned out to be from a six-year-old girl, from Holland, who had written a Christmas greeting.
She threw the bottle into the sea about five months ago.
A Trinity House spokesman said: “We have now contacted the girl and we will be sending her something to thank her.”
