Parts of the United Kingdom including mid-Essex and Suffolk were put on alert this morning as rains continue to fall in one of the wettest months on record.
The Environment Agency has not issued any caution notices for Colchester, Clacton, Harwich or Manningtree areas but rain is expected to fall until mid-afternoon.
The River Wid from Ingatestone to, and including Writtle, has been put on flood warning, while the River Can at Chelmsford is on the less imminent flood alert.
The River Stour is also on alert from Kedington to Sudbury.
Environment Agency officers will monitor river levels and check defences throughout the day.
Motorists are reminded to drive carefully as strong winds are also forecast.
