A HUSBAND has appeared in court charged with causing the death of his wife by dangerous driving.
Simon Aylott, 34, of Holland Road, Little Clacton, appeared at Colchester Magistrates’ Court earlier today.
It is alleged he was driving his Toyota Rav 4 when he collided with a lorry on the northbound carriageway of the A12 near the Witham slip road.
Rachel Aylott, 38, was a back seat passenger, and died from her injuries following the crash on March 30 last year.
It is understood they were on their way back from a holiday in New York when the incident occurred.
Four people were hurt in the collision.
Simon Aylott has been bailed to appear at Chelmsford Crown Court for a plea and case management hearing on July 9.
