Well said Angel Kalyan (Letters, Gazette 25/4/12).
Of course a council officers’ role does need debate and of course the system within our council is breaking down, or more to the point, has broken down.
I see little of the seven Nolan Principles in our council today: Integrity, honesty and so on have been replaced by greed, self-gratification and a control- freak attitude towards those who believe in justice.
As a political activist supporting a local candidate, I gave a poster to a couple who said they would display it.
Later on I noticed it had not been displayed so I knocked on their door and was told they decided to vote for another candidate as he was a friend, proving Angel’s point.
Don’t always do what you have done – rather, vote for the man or woman you know will get the job done.
Vote for the individual not the party or the friend who might not be quite such a friend when he or she gets into power and beware of getting what you do not vote for.
