A MAN and a woman were cut from the wreckage of a car after it was crushed between two lorries.
Police, fire and paramedic crews were called to the crash, in Godman’s Lane, Marks Tey, yesterday at 3pm. The two people in the BMW were trapped between two HGVs.
The passenger, a woman, was cut free and treated at the scene for minor injuries and shock.
The man was trapped for 40 minutes before fire crews were able to cut him free. He was flown to Colchester General Hospital.
A spokesman for Essex Fire Service said: “Firefighters worked to release a man trapped in his car following a collision involving two HGVs and a car.
“Firefighters are using hydraulic cutting and spreading equipment to allow doctors on scene to assess the man's condition.” Police closed both lanes of the A120.
Traffic had already built up after a three-car crash at the King’s Lane, Stisted, junction at 1.50pm.
Nigel Fitch, Marks Tey Parish Council chairman, demanded urgent action is taken to increase road safety through the village.
He said: “We have asked for speed limits and safety measures, but we get the same answer. That there is not enough money. Well, they must urgently find some money. With HGV lorries flying down there, it is just not safe for drivers or residents.”
