A MAN suspected of parking his car on a railway line in order to cause a train crash has had his bail extended.
Police, fire and ambulance crews were called to the train track near the Chitts Hill crossing in Colchester in May.
At first it was thought a car had careered off the A12 and ended up near the track.
However police are now investigating whether the car was left on the line deliberately.
A 32-year-old man from Suffolk was arrested on suspicion of a number of motoring offences including intent to endanger life.
He will return from bail in August when a decision on any potential charges will be made.
Following the incident the car was safely removed by fire crews and trains were cancelled and stopped before any collision occurred.
