A MOTOR garage could be brought back into use after four years lying derelict.
The owners of the former Watts Car Sales site, in Parsons Heath, want to turn the vacant building into a state of the art salesroom.
Haddocks, based in Fox Street, in Ardleigh, has applied for permission from Colchester Council to revamp the 380m² site.
If the plans get the go ahead, the garage expects to create six new jobs initially, with a further six to follow if the business is successful.
Paul Smith borough councillor, welcomed the plans: “It is great that we are seeing yet more investment in Colchester.
“Clearly, we will want to talk to residents and get their views, to make sure that there will be no adverse impact on them.
“The prospect of 12 new jobs is great and will be even better if these 12 people are from Colchester.”
Residents in St John’s Road, Eldon Close, Parsons Heath and Roach Vale will be consulted on the plans.
The building has been used for storage by the Hyundai company in the past.
Prior to Haddocks buying the building, an application was made to build a residential development, which was rejected by the council.
It is due to be decided on by August 31.
