Organisers have saved the Tendring Show despite torrential rain making the Lawford showground a sea of mud.
Tonnes of wood chip is being put down by diggers to allow cars to get in an out of the car parks.
And quad bikes are on hand to pull out any cars which get stuck.
In the showground, visitors are wearing wellies to negotiate the muddy showground.
But organisers said they were proud they did not have to cancel the event, especially as so many other events around the country have fallen victim to the weather.
