A GROUP has failed in its bid to buy Alresford Fishery as part of an £8million deal.
Legacy Angling had put together the bid to buy 12 lakes around the east and south east of England, owned by Cemex.
But instead the company has decided to sell each of the lakes individually, with the Alresford complex being on the market for £250,000.
Georgina Bradley, who runs the charity, said: “It is a shame, we had some great plans for Alresford.
“We really wanted to make it a place people would want to go.”
She added: “We were not intending to make a quick buck and sell out again after a couple of years - we were in it for the long haul and wanted to take Legacy Angling forward to a bright future.”
Miss Bradley has also offered her services for the unknown Alresford buyer.
“Our plans were detailed and I really believed in making it work, so I would urge the buyer to get in touch to see if we can help.”
