SPORTS fans gearing up for a summer in front of the TV have been given top tips to keep fit themselves.
Dr Valerie Gladwell, a sports scientist from Essex University, is giving people handy hints to stop them becoming couch potatoes.
Dr Gladwell said: “With the Olympics and Paralympics following on from Euro 2012 and Wimbledon, sports fans may well be putting their own fitness to one side, but there is plenty you can do to keep active without moving too far from the TV.”
The senior lecturer has been advising the Wellcome Trust in a £5 million project, sending out fitness advice packs to schools across the country as part of the Olympic legacy.
