FIREFIGHTERS were called to the A12 after a car caught fire.
Two crews from Colchester and one from Hadleigh in Suffolk were called to the southbound carriageway between Ardleigh and Stratford St Mary following reports of a fire in a Land Rover.
The fire was reported at about 1pm today and was extinguished in 30 minutes.
The road was closed southbound to allow firefighters to work and was re-opened.
At the same time commuters on the opposite side, between Cuckoo Farm and Ardleigh, were delayed by a broken down horsebox.
The car fire is the latest in a series of blazes.
Fire crews were called to the Avenue of Remembrance at 1pm on Friday and spent almost half-an-hour putting out the blaze.
Nobody was hurt.
