A PUB is looking to reward someone who supports up-and-coming sports talent in Colchester.

The Yew Tree on the Causeway, Great Horkesley, is looking for people to nominate proud parents who put their kids first, a colleague who is always going the extra mile or a committed coach in the community.

Organised by pub company Chef and Brewer, the winner will take home £1,000 while the person who nominated them will win a party for 10 at the pub company.

Cassandra Hopkins, general manager at the Yew Tree, said: “We know there are plenty of people in the local community who go out of their way to help others in sport but we need local people to tell us about them. It might be a parent who drives hundreds of miles to take their kids to training, or someone who has spent their whole life running a local sports club.

“Research has shown us many families fit their evening and weekends around childrens’ sporting pursuits, but it’s important to make time for family occasions too, whether it’s for a day out or a traditional pub lunch. That’s why we’re looking to give something back to someone who always puts others first.”
