A CALL has gone out for volunteers to help make this year’s Colchester Free Festival the best so far.
People are being asked to help out before, during and after the music and arts festival, which is due to take place in Castle Park on Saturday, August 25.
Organisers need help setting up and clearing Castle Park, as well as stewarding, selling programmes and collecting donations on the day.
In return, volunteers will get reduced rates on festival food and an invitation to a post-festival Thank You party taking place on the Sunday.
Marc De’ath, one of the organisers, said: “The festival is a community event, and we rely on the help of the community we serve to keep it going and growing.
“Whether it's giving us a lift transporting kit to the site, helping people find their way around the festival on the day or breaking down tents after the fun's over, everything helps.
“Think of it as a community service – with all the fun of the festival.”
This year’s event, supported by the Gazette, will feature three stages with music from bands including Animal Noise and Angry Vs The Bear, DJ Bandstand, art areas, children’s festival and trade stalls.
