RYDER Cup winner Paul Way was the guest of honour at a charity golf day.
Way, who won the UK versus USA trophy in 1985, gave tips to players at the Playgolf Colchester Corporate Charity Golf Day.
The event, sponsored by the Gazette and American Golf, raised more than £5,000 for St Helena Hospice. Julie Saleh, of Playgolf Colchester, said: “It was a fantastic day, and it raised money for a great cause.
“We would just like to say a
big thank you to everyone
who came along, to the sponsors and the people who helped out.”
ATE Fire Protection won with 96 points.
Teams from 16 Air Assault Brigade and St Helena Hospice also took part.
A raffle and competitions were held.
Captain of the winning team, Ian Bovington, said: “I would like to thank everyone concerned for putting on an excellent day for such a worthy cause.
“Everything about the day, from the course condition to the organisation, friendliness and professionalism of the whole team at Playgolf Colchester, has been a pleasure to behold.
“We will definitely be back next year to defend our title.”
