AMBITIOUS plans to create a new country park in Mersea have been unveiled.
West Mersea town council want to merge four existing fields and a wooded area and turn them into the 12-acre West Mersea Park.
It is hoped it will eventually host a wild flower meadow, a fitness trail, a permanent skate-park, nature trails, sports pitches and an outdoor classroom for Mersea Island school pupils if it goes ahead.
The council’s environment committee, headed by councillor Peter Clements, is currently negotiating with owners of two fields to help their dream become a reality.
