I LIVE in Brightlingsea and I am writing to say how totally I agree with the writer of the letter concerning the closure of the Martin’s Farm recycling centre at St Osyth (July 12).
I, like others, did everything I could to support the continuance of this facility in the months before its closure, by signing petitions, writing letters etc.
I believe the decision to close this centre was, from all points of view, ill-conceived and short-sighted.
It was also, in effect, dismissive of the very strong, but considered and genuinely sensible views of the thousands of recyclers in the surrounding villages.
These are residents who could see what the personal and wider implications of such a decision would be.
