AN annual historic vehicle show has been cancelled for the first time in nearly 30 years.
The West Bergholt Vehicle Show, which was due to take place next weekend, Saturday, July 28 and Sunday, July 29, has been called off because the ground is badly waterlogged.
It is the first time in 29 years the show, in Nayland Road, West Bergholt, has had to be cancelled.
“It is a great shame it has come to this,” said organiser Michael Culham.
“It has taken 11 months of hard work to get the event to the point where it is now, but I thought I had to be fair to people who were coming and to people who were to be working at it.
“I could have called it off next week but that would be very short notice.”
Mr Culham said he has already started working on next year’s 30th anniversary show, which will be complete with military bands and freefall parachute team, the Tigers, which was booked to perform at next week’s show, alongside more than 500 historic vehicles.
"I promise next year will be bigger and better than ever," he added.
