A MOTORIST has been airlifted to hospital following an A12 crash involving a police Land Rover.
Emergency crews were called at 3.40pm on Friday to reports of a crash involving two vehicles on the northbound carriageway between Junctions 25 and 26 of the A12.
They discovered an accident involving a Citroen 2CV and a Land Rover.
Fire crews cut free one woman, believed to be a woman in her 60s, before the Air Ambulance took her to Royal London Hospital, in Whitechapel with serious injuries.
The PC driving the Land Rover was taken to Colchester General Hospital with minor injuries.
The A12 was closed in both directions, causing major rush hour tailbacks on surrounding routes including the A120.
The south bound lane was reopened at around 5.15pm.
