TWO people were taken to hospital after being cut free from their cars following a four-vehicle collision on the A120.
Emeregncy services were called to the westbound carriageway of the road, near to Horsley Cross, shortly after 11.30am.
One person suffered a suspected spinal injury and another suffered a knee injury.
The pair, one thought to be a woman in her 30s, were taken to Colchester General Hospital for treatment.
They were freed by fire crews from Dovercourt, Weeley and Colchester, who used two sets of specialist hydraulic cutting equipment.
A spokesman for Essex Police said: “Police are at the scene of a road crash at Horsley Cross.
“The collision happened when several vehicles struck each other on the westbound carriageway on the A120."
The road was left blocked in both directions on the Dovercourt side of the A120 following the collision.
Motorists reported queues tailing back for almost a mile following the incident.
