GRAFFITI vandals are defacing properties across Colchester.
Police are appealing for information after tags appeared on at least 16 buildings, tunnels, fences and pathways in the town.
Industrial areas and railway stations have suffered the worst of the spray can attacks which are being treated as criminal damage by police.
PC Joseph Daunt said: "We want to hear from anyone with information about any graffiti around Colchester which is identified by the tags ‘JEM’, ‘FAVO’, ‘CSBAN’ and ‘JWS’.”
During one incident the vandals are believed to have been disturbed as spray cans and face masks were found abandoned near Cymbeline Meadows.
The graffiti nearby included offensive language and symbols and was sprayed on the railway tunnel between Friday, July 20 and Monday, July 23.
Other areas near the Cowdray Centre and Peto Avenue have also been hit.
Anyone with information about the graffiti vandals call PC Daunt at the Colchester area investigation team on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
