A COMMUNITY has been awarded £25,000 to replace old play equipment.
The Veolia Environmental Trust has given the money to Myland Community Council to install new play equipment in Bergholt Road, Colchester.
The project will also install safety surfaces and other features found in a modern play area.
The Trust will now start working with the council to develop their plans.
Helen Harris, council clerk, said: “It’s great that The Veolia Environmental Trust has awarded this grant and we look forward to working with them to develop and undertake a scheme that will result in the best for the children and young people living in the area.”
Stephen Pitt, chair of the Bergholt Road Playground Project Team, added: "After three years planning a new playground for our local community, we can finally see we will soon be able to achieve our plans thanks to the generous grant from The Veolia Environmental Trust."
The trust awards grants through the Landfill Communities Fund using landfill tax credits provided by waste company Veolia.
