A POLICE car has been vanadlised in a suspected revenge attack.
The vehicle was parked at West Mersea fire station, Barfield Road, when the incident occurred on Saturday.
All four tyres were slashed and the windows and windscreen were left smashed.
The car is currently being tested by forensics teams.
Chief Inspector Jim White said: “We are appealing to anybody in the community who has any information to come forward.
“Any tip-offs will be followed up.
“This is a very annoying offence as it is our tax payers money to repair the damage to the police vehicle.
“We are very keen to catch the offender and ask anyone with information contact us as soon as possible.”
An Essex Police spokesman confirmed the car is currently being repaired and that the damage was substantial.
A Mersea resident, who asked not to be named, said: “We think it was done as revenge by someone who has been sentenced.
“They are known to the island as a troublemakers and give other teenagers a bad name.”
