IN TODAY'S GAZETTE: A MAN and his ex-girlfriend have been convicted of a brual killing in a Clacton street.
Charlie Jacobs, 23, was high on cocaine and alcohol when he punched and kicked Oli Smith-Daye to death. He was convicted of murder.
His ex-partner Elisha Francois, 21, had also been drinking and taking drugs. She was cleared of murder but convicted of manslaughter.
* More police officers face losing their jobs are it was revealed Essex Police has nly made £16 million of the £42 million savings needed.
* Two men who left a woman with a broken back after crashing a stolen car are behind bars.
Jackie Stretton, 25, is still recovering after the incident. His Toyota was involved in a head-on crash with a Fiat Stilo which Jason Young and Tyrell O'Donnell had stolen.
* A shop has opened after two months of delays. The Cake Story, in Priory Walk, Colchester, had been scheduled to open in June but it was postponed by the collapse of the roof at the nearby Holland and Barrett store.
