A WINDOW making firm has been refused permission to expand its factory – even though it promised the move would create 30 jobs.
The Performance Window Group wanted build a new warehouse on land next to its plant on the Tower Business Park, Tiptree .
Documents with its planning application claimed the new building would allow it to expand its workforce to 140.
Colchester Council planning officers have refused the application on the grounds it did not include enough information about how the warehouse would look when it was finished.
Performance Window Group’s managing director, Simon Howard, said the company planned to try again with a follow-up application.
He said: “Of course, we are disappointed but it won’t stop our plans for expansion.
“So as far as we are concerned, this is just a minor setback and it’s business as usual for now.
“We have exciting back-up and contingency plans, which we shall continue to pursue.”
