A HAVE-A-GO hero made a citizen’s arrest on a couple accused of robbing his friend.
Shocked commuters watched as a teenager confronted a man and teenage girl at Colchester’s Town Station, St Botolph’s Circus, on Monday.
He recognised the pair as police suspects in the robbery of his 13-year-old friend a fortnight ago.
The youngster managed to hold off protests from Clacton teen, Muhammed Rashid, 19, and a 17-year-old female, while he contacted police on his mobile phone.
He managed to detain the pair long enough for police to arrive and arrest them.
Rashid and his 17-year-old co-defendant, who cannot be named because of a court order, appeared in Colchester Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday charged with robbery.
Neither entered a plea.
Both were remanded in custody and will next appear at Chelmsford Crown Court on August 17 for a preliminary hearing.
