THE number of weekly Covid cases in Colchester has more than tripled in the space of a week, according to the latest figures.
According to the Government figures, in the week to June 13 there were 103 cases recorded in the borough.
The average infection rate during this week was 52.9 cases per 100,000 people.
In the previous week there were 33 cases of Covid confirmed in the borough, less than a third of the latest numbers.
The average infection rate during this week was 16.9 cases per 100,000 people.
Colchester continues to have the highest average infection rate in Essex.

A map also shows how many cases have been recorded in each part of Colchester in the week to June 12.
A total of 12 parts of the town are now included on the hotspots map.
