HAVING spent five years with us, including a brief period as chair of the local membership, I would like to wish Richard Hill all the best for the future, he has many friends who are still committed to the Labour Party locally (Gazette, August 10, “Labour chief steps down...and fires a blast at Sir Keir”).
I know our members and councillors will continue to put local people first in our campaigns and work to make Colchester a fairer and better place to live.
The Labour Party locally, and nationally, is now under new leadership.
I have been a Labour Party member under five different leaders, they come and they go, some more successful than others.
It will be for the electorate to decide the fate of Keir Starmer’s leadership.
I believe he is a trustworthy, sincere and intelligent leader who would do a far better job than Boris Johnson.
Local Labour Party members and councillors will continue to work together to listen to, and work hard for, our residents.
We’ll be fighting for every vote in future elections to return a Labour-led borough council and, in due course, a Labour MP for Colchester.
