I WAS saddened to read in the Family Notices [Deaths] on that Peter Napper, the headmaster and teacher had died (Gazette, August 11).
He was my teacher at Hamilton Road School, and although that was many years ago, I have always remembered him with great fondness.
I still have the signed prize book of ‘Charlotte’s Web’ that he gave me for winning a model crib competition.
Certain teachers stand out from the rest and he was most certainly one of them. Not just for his teaching but also for his kindness and gentle manner.
I hope that his family will read this as I would like to send my kindest thoughts to them at this time.
