A MAN has been sentenced to four weeks in jail after he was found guilty of a domestic violence offence.
Chester Dauda, of Magnolia Drive, Greenstead, Colchester, appeared before magistrates in Bexley last month where he faced one charge of assault by beating.
His victim was a woman with court papers stating the offence took place in Greenwich, south London.
When 36-year-old Dauda first appeared in court in May, he denied assault by beating, but last Wednesday Dauda was found guilty when magistrates reconvened at Bexley Magistrates’ Court.
There, officials sentenced Dauda to a four-week prison sentence, adding the offence was of greater seriousness because of his previous record and overall character.
Magistrates also imposed a restraining order on Dauda, which prevents him from contacting his victim and entering her street in south London.
Further restraining orders pertaining to his victim’s daughter were also imposed by magistrates, with Dauda prevented from going to any school or after school club which she attends.
The restraining orders are set to last until July 2026.
Dauda is also required to pay a £154 fine, which must be paid by August 16.
