Joe Dunne heralded a big victory for his Colchester United side after they eased their relegation fears with a 2-1 win over Leyton Orient.

The U's are now six points clear of the League One relegation zone with four games to play, after goals from Gavin Massey and Drey Wright ensured Kevin Lisbie's strike against his former club proved only a consolation.

U's keeper Sam Walker denied Lisbie from the spot late on, as Colchester chalked up a huge win.

Dunne said: “It was a big victory for us and a big three points.

“It wasn’t pretty and we looked very nervous.

“We were young and nervous and we made mistakes but we were resilient.

"I thought that we defended immensely.

“We looked a bit nervous at times but you have to expect that with the position that we’re in.

“It would be different if we were near the top of the league but everyone wanted to get over the line, in terms of winning the game."
