Jack Compton has left Colchester United after little more than three months at the club.
The winger has found his chances limited at the U’s since joining them from League One rivals Portsmouth, in January.
Compton, 24, made seven appearances during his brief time with Colchester and made only one start.
He is now looking for another club after the U’s decided he was surplus to requirements.
Meanwhile, striker Troy Hewitt has returned to Queens Park Rangers following the culmination of his loan spell with the U’s.
