Joe Dunne could not hide his disappointment after his Colchester United side were beaten 3-1 by Notts County.
Late goals from substitutes Yoann Arquin and Romello Nangle sealed the Magpies’ win, after Jabo Ibehre had cancelled out Jeff Hughes’ opener at Meadow Lane.
Dunne said: “Up until their second goal we were fine and there were a lot of positives to take from the game, in terms of individual performances.
“But it’s a 3-1 defeat and that’s disappointing, especially at this stage of the season.
“In the second half, we were dealing with most things.
“We were looking a threat from set pieces and going forward and I thought that we were coping really well with the game.
“But for their second goal, he (Arquin) was picked up but he wasn’t picked up by the right man, which was frustrating in terms of the information that was going out onto the pitch.
“I’m absolutely frustrated that they scored a third goal – that was just lazy defending.
“The ball went back in and it was a case of people switching off.
“I’ve said before that it could come down to goal difference and you can’t be conceding three goals.”
