Jabo Ibehre insists the disappointment of losing at Notts County can act as the spur Colchester United need to finally secure their League One survival.
The gap between the U’s and the bottom four was cut to five points with three games to go, following their 3-1 defeat at Meadow Lane.
But despite their latest setback, goalscorer Ibehre is still confident that Colchester can avoid the dreaded drop.
Ibehre said: “We’ve got a good attitude and sometimes, you need that knock to realise where you are.
“Perhaps we got a little bit relaxed with the position that we’re in now and sometimes you need a bit of a jab in the ribs to make you wake up again."
