Colchester United were beaten 2-0 at home by MK Dons tonight.

But the U's still remain five points above the relegation zone with two games to go, following Scunthorpe United's defeat at Bury.

Colchester fell behind in the 12th minute when Daniel Powell latched onto Luke Chadwick's pass before slotting past Sam Walker.

The U's finished the first half strongly and Gavin Massey hit the side netting, while Freddie Sears saw his effort hit the post.

Billy Clifford and Andy Bond also went close before the break and the U's started the second half well.

But they were unable to muster an equaliser and MK Dons wrapped up their win when Patrick Bamford fired past Walker from Chadwick's precise pass, with 12 minutes to go.
