Colchester United manager Joe Dunne says he intends to speak to defender John White about offering him a new deal.
White, who has made more than 250 league and cup appearances for the U's, is out of contract next month.
But the 26-year-old played an important role in helping the U's stay in League One and boss Dunne intends to speak to the versatile defender about extending his spell at the Weston Homes Community Stadium.
Dunne said: “John White puts himself on the line for the football club.
“He knows the club like I do and he’s one player who I need to speak to about a new contract."
