MERSEA Island Judo Club held it’s annual Club Championships in front of a packed hall of spectators.
An excellent day of competition was held at the Mersea Centre.
Joe Keating was awarded with best throw of the day, after throwing his opponent high into the air for a maximum score.
Sensei Kate Dawson said: “As usual there was always the highest degree of sportsmanship from every judoka. Win or lose there was always a handshake at the end to each other.
“This year’s sponsors were Fen Farm – thank you very much for your generosity and putting big smiles on every child’s face when they received their medal.”
“It is always lovely to see the children looking so proud and pleased with their achievements after a hard-fought competition.”
Margret Lawford, of Fen Farm, made the presentation of medals to all the competitors.
The annual awards were then presented by Dawson.
