Ryan Dickson will be given the chance to impress for Colchester United on trial in their pre-season friendly against Tottenham Hotspur tonight.
The left-back, who has been released by Premier League side Southampton, is a free agent and the U's are running the rule over the player.
Dickson, 26, joined Southampton from Brentford in 2010 and made 23 appearances for the south coast club, before being released by the Saints last month.
Dickson has also had recent loan spells at the likes of Leyton Orient and Yeovil Town.
Craig Braham-Barrett, who was on trial at the U's, has signed for Cheltenham Town from Macclesfield Town.
