Colchester United are expected to complete the signing of Ryan Dickson today.

The attacking left-back is set to sign a one-year deal with the U’s, after impressing while on trial with them this summer.

Dickson is a free agent, having been released by Premier League club Southampton last month.

And the 26-year-old is now set to become a U’s player, after convincing boss Joe Dunne he is worthy of a permanent deal.

Dunne said: “Ryan fits the bill for us.

“He’s someone who needs to get his career going again but he has great quality."
