STANWAY School pupil Ross Soteriou has been awarded an international shirt after impressing selectors in a game in Corfu.

The 16-year-old from Lexden was awarded his cricket under-17 international jersey by the President of the Hellenic Cricket Federation, Iosif Nikitas.

Soteriou impressed the Greek selectors after taking part in a number of practice sessions and representing a Greek team who beat a Pakistan touring XI in a 20/20 match.

Soteriou teamed up with the Greece under-17 captain Spiros Bogdos and the pair put on 40 between them.

The Copford Cricket Club teenager now plans to represent Greece at an international tournament in Corfu, next April.
